Medical engineering center

    The medical engineering center in the Institute of Translational Medicine of Zhejiang University was founded in 2014 by 4 senior research scientists from the top universities in the United States. These founding members were the original principal investigators (PIs) of the laboratories. Six postdoctoral researchers have been recruited, including 2 foreign doctors. There are more than 30 graduate students with diverse professional backgrounds in the center, forming a unique characterization as the interdisciplinarity. The research subjects are well-matched with the clinical needs of various departments of the affiliated hospitals to the Zhejiang University School of Medicine. With an equivalent emphasis in both graduate education and scientific research, and the multi-disciplinary study starts from the clinical issues and comes into the medical device applicable in the clinical practice. A number of national projects with total funding over 10 million CNY are currently undertaken by our working groups, including the National Key R&D Program of China. There are more than 10 papers published in the high impact journals with an impact factor of more than 10, including 2 cover papers.  There are more than 10 inventions granted, some of them are transferred to the outstanding enterprises in China to solve the practical problems. The application of the key technologies from our labs in the medical devices from several companies such as Careray Jiangsu and Spaco Guangdong significantly improves the user experience and boosts the sales revenue.
