My research interest centers around a common theme of utilizing genomic and bioinformatic approaches to understand bacterial pathogens in terms of pathogenesis, antimicrobial resistance and epidermiology. In particular, I am interested in studying how genetic changes such as mutations and lateral gene transfers affect bacterial phenotype and how these changes disseminate among population. The currently ongoing works include:
1. Host specificity of Salmonella Typhi.
2. Multi-drug resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii.
3. Whole genome sequence typing of important pathogens.
Translational potential
1. To explore new strategy for the treatment of infectious disease.
2. To construct a network for monitoring the prevalence of important pathogens.
