Introduction

RESEARCH FIELD

The dynamic temporal and spatial regulation of gene transcription determines cell identity and function. Dysregulation of transcription is closely linked to a broad range of human diseases, and studying the molecular mechanism of transcription is of great significance for understanding the pathogenesis of diseases and developing new treatments. Our laboratory will combine biochemistry, computational and structural biology, cell biology, and mouse models to conduct basic and applied research on critical human transcription processes. Through our multi-level and multi-dimensional translational studies, we will reveal the molecular basis and pathogenic mechanism of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, providing the theoretical basis for drug development patient treatment.

Our research will focus on three directions:

(1) Dissect the function and molecular basis of metabolic-related epigenetic modification on transcription regulation.

(2) Investigate the function and mechanism of neurodegenerative disease associated DNA repeat sequences on transcription regulation.

(3) Uncover the function, mechanism, and molecular basis of viral proteins on transcription regulation.
