Introduction

Research Field
Tumor cells achieve rapid growth by changing their metabolic patterns. This important feature is known as cancer metabolic reprogramming. Metabolic enzymes could acquire new non-metabolic functions because of the numerous gene mutations and unique microenvironment in tumors. We will focus on investigating the key scientific questions for tumor metabolism through the cutting-edge techniques in biochemistry, molecular biology, metabolomics, and transgenic/knockout mice with tumor models. We will carry out basic research in synthesis and catabolism of biological macromolecules, redox homeostasis, the molecular and spatial network for metabolic enzyme, the tumor microenvironment and metabolite sensing, etc. By studying the molecular mechanism of metabolic reprogramming, we will reveal new metabolic markers and molecular targets for cancer, and provide a theoretical basis for individualized treatment of cancer. In addition, we will develop anti-tumor drugs and corresponding diagnostic reagents targeting metabolic enzymes. The translational research will eventually be used in the diagnosis and treatment of tumor patients.

We have three research directions in cancer metabolism:
(1) Dissect the molecular network in the metabolic reprogramming
(2) Study the spatial regulation and post-translational modification in cancer metabolism
(3) Uncover the non-metabolic function of metabolic enzyme in tumorigenesis
